About Our Campouts

For our campouts, we reserve an area large to accommodate our Pack and we make sure the park amenities include water and bathrooms.  All the families in a den camp near one another.  The Pack provides dinner and breakfast. If there is not a burn ban, we have a Pack campfire where each den will perform a skit.  We camp rain-or-shine, but only if it’s safe.

This is car camping, so you can bring all the pillows, blankets, stuffed animals you want. You can unpack your car 15 feet from where you will set up your tent.

NOTE: Only 2 cars per campsite are allowed. So although you may unload your car at your campsite, you may have to leave your car in the overflow area.

Food: The Pack provides dinner and breakfast. Bring your own snacks and LOTS AND LOTS of WATER. There should be water at the campsite as well, but you can never have too much. Reusable water bottles strongly suggested.

Clothing: Scouts should travel in their Class A (fancy) shirts and should remain in uniform until the end of the Opening Flag Ceremony. Scouts shoudl then change into their Class B (sasual) shirts.

Clothing: Scouts should wear Class B shirts (blue dry-fit Pack 39 t-shirts. Let us know if you still need to buy one.) Boys may want a change of clothes for both days. If it is going to be cool at night, bring layers.

CAMPING RULES

TENT SHARING – Scouts may only share a tent with their own parent/guardian or with other scouts. If scouts attends without their parents they must have an assigned responsible adult at the campout and den leaders must have emergency numbers. No scout is allowed to sleep in a tent with an adult other than his parent or guardian. There is NO flexibility on this rule. Scouts may bunk togethere, but there must not be more than a 2-year age difference between the scouts.

KNIVES – Boys may ONLY use a pocket knife if they have completed the “Whittling Chip” achievement. If your scout is younger than a Bears (3rd graders) or has not coompleted this achievemetnt, they may not use or even have a knife at the camp out.

ELECTRONICS are not allowed. Parents may keep their phones on them but we ask you NOT to use them during activities etc. Scouts are NOT to bring electronics with them for the campout.

PETS – Dogs are not allowed. Cats are not allowed. Hampsters are not allowed.  Snakes are not allowed. Lamas may be allowed with written permission. This is a BSA rule and generally just a good idea. Leave Fluffy home.

FIRST TIME CAMPER?

Try spending a night in your backyard with your scout. Even if you don’t spend the night, it’s good practice to setup your tent. This will ensure you have all the parts for your tent and will make your scout more at ease when camping. There are many seasoned campers that will help you set up at the campout.

ONE NIGHT OR TWO?

If this is your scout’s first-ever campout, we recommend only camping out Saturday to Sunday. This is our main campout program and you’ll be away from home for less than 24 hours.

Tell us if you have never been camping and we’ll send someone by to make sure it’s all going well. Do not stress out.

WHAT TO BUY?

It’s more of what NOT to buy. Do not buy a $1,200 REI tent rated for 150mph wind. Do not buy a sleeping bag rated for -30 degrees. Do not buy a folding table, cooking set, Jet Boil.

A $30 Coleman tent and a $8 sleeping bag from Academy will do you just fine.

There are some nice camping sleeping pads that are totally worth their money. But you are just fine using a blowup mattress.  There will be electricity to run a pump.

GRUBMASTER

THE PACK BRINGS THE FOOD

NOTE: You may want to bring some snacks for your children for those random time that they get hangry.

DIETARY REQUESTS

The pack will attempt to meet the dietary requests of famlies, but you know your family the best. Parents/Guardians are responsible for making sure their family gets their appropriate food item.  Famlies are also welcome to bring their own items to supplement what is provided.
